Appelation: Vin di Tavola Siciliani
Varietal: Nerello Mascalese
Nerello Mascalese is a grape famous for being the Pinot Noir of Sicily. While it may be a bit more earthy and rich, there are a lot of similarities. This light side of medium red is harvested in late September from the hills outside of Palermo. Southeast facing vineyards sit 1,000 ft above sea level, providing warm Mediterranean days and cool nights, keeping freshness and aromatics in the wine. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel. Fermentation typically lasts 20 days, with pump overs done twice daily.
